The technology sector is the largest economic sector in the greater Victoria region. There are 800 known technology companies, employing more than 13,000 people and generating in excess of $1.95 billion in annual revenues with an economic impact of $2.65 billion. (VIATeC)
The Saanich Peninsula is home to many of the firms that lead the sector in employment, sales, innovation and global markets. From marine and transportation firms like Quester Tangent to real time ocean data acquisition and remote sensing companies like AXYS Technologies and Terra Remote Systems to web design and communication firms like IdeaZone, Holy Cow Communications, and Honeycomb Webworks…there is not a spectrum of the technology industry that is not located on the Saanich Peninsula.
The technology sector has its own strong organization the Vancouver Island Advanced Technology Council that provides a range of services and programs for its members. The Chamber works closely with VIATeC on regional issues impacting the technology sector
