The Chamber loves to celebrate the successes of the businesses on the Peninsula. In fact it has been doing just that for the past 100 years.
Recently, with the use of technology, we have extended our ability to promote the hard working and entrepreneurial businesses on the Peninsula. We hope you have joined us on twitter where we re-tweet the news and successes of all those that follow us, or joined the Chamber Linkedin group or perhaps you have seen the videos of local business owners on the Chamber you tube channel – if not you should – great stories and wonderful lessons to be learned. And for those of you love it like us on Facebook and keep us up to date on what you are doing and let us pass the word along in real time. All of this helps us in promoting and supporting our members and the business community on the Peninsula. But sometimes, in fact most of the time, it is important to be face to face, to shake someone’s hand for a job well done or pat someone on the back for their commitment to the community or congratulate someone with a smile for a recent success. The best way to do that is at the Crystal Awards.
For the past six years the Chamber has held the Crystal Awards – the premier event of the season where we really get to congratulate a select group of companies that have been the best of the best in front of their peers and families. It is truly a wonderful awards evening and each year for the past six years the event has been the talk of the community, a sold out evening and a night of celebration.
This year we had planned to hold the Crystal Awards in early May, the traditional time of year for the event. But we have learned from talking to our members and the business community that this year is a little different from past years. People are busier in their business gearing up for summer, planning new inventory, expanding hours and a host of other things that make up the routine and excitement of running a business. We also heard that with all the events the Chamber has put on recently and is planning over the next little while (Elizabeth May, Peter Hall, the monthly mixer, Bob Rae and Adrian Dix-check out our website for details) people’s calendars were getting swamped. We were told it would be better to hold the Crystal Awards later in the year after the summer rush.
So we have decided to wait a bit and provide Chamber members and the business community a bit more time to plan and to nominate themselves or other local businesses for a Crystal Award. The Crystal Awards will now be held on October 11th at the Butchart Gardens.
We look forward to seeing you there and hopefully giving you a Crystal Award.
