John Treleaven – President
Principal – The Treleaven Consulting Group Ltd.
In August 2005 John established The Treleaven Consulting Group Ltd., located in Sidney, to provide international marketing and policy advice to public and private sector clients. Prior to moving to Sidney he was President and CEO of the Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership (STEP), a P3 organization providing market research and export services to 260 Saskatchewan companies. Mr. Treleaven began his career in the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service in 1968. Postings included Sao Paulo, San Juan, Puerto Rico, London, San Jose, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Ambassador to the Philippines. In Ottawa he served in a variety of senior positions in Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
John has been on the Board of Directors since 2007 and is a member of the Executive Committee.

Mark deMedeiros- 2nd Vice PresidentBranch Manager – Island Savings Brentwood Bay
Mark has been with Island Savings Credit Union for over 13 years before taking over the helm as Branch Manager of the local Brentwood Bay branch in January 2008. In his first year, Mark and his team won Island Savings’ Branch of the Year recognition. Providing high levels of member service, having knowledgeable staff working together for creative solutions, and always following through on member commitments, has been the cornerstone of making Mark and his team successful on the Peninsula.
Mark has also been a 10 year volunteer with Junior Achievement Vancouver Island and most recently spent 4 years sitting on the Regional Advisory’s Board. Mark believes strongly in volunteering and giving back to the community in which he lives and works. He is excited to be helping the Chamber in his new role, as he believes the Chamber plays an important part in shaping the community in which we all work and live.
Ken Bates – TreasurerPrincipal – Bates Consulting Group
For many years, Ken has been providing wealth creation strategies to individuals and is a principle and President of Bates Consulting Group Ltd. He holds both R.F.P. (Registered Financial Planner) and CFP (Chartered Financial Planner) designations and has been a director of Advocis and the Canadian Association of Financial Planners. Presently Ken is a member of the national steering committee of The Financial Planning Industry Task Force.
Ken has been a member of the Chamber board since 2006 and is presently a member of the Executive Committee and is the Chambers’ Treasurer
Elaine Hughesman – SecretaryPartner – Flader Hale Hughesman
Elaine is a partner with Flader Hale Hughesman, Chartered Accountants in Sidney. She holds a C.A. (Chartered Accountant) designation and loves working closely with clients to help them with all aspects of their businesses, in addition to the accounting and tax pieces of the puzzle.
Elaine became a board member in 2009 and is now the Chambers’ Secretary.
Denis Paquette – Past PresidentOwner – Sidney Waterfront Inn & Spa
Denis is Vice President and an owner of P& L Holdings, operating Sidney Waterfront Inn & Spa. He has been working full time with the family owned hotel since May of 1970. He is involved, as the Volunteer Executive Director, in developing the North Saanich Mountain Bike Park and is the Regatta Chair of the Greater Victoria Youth Rowing Society.
Denis has been with the Chamber of Commerce as far back as 1978, where he joined as a director. During his time with the Chamber, he served as the president for two terms and grew the Chamber to the Saanich Peninsula Chamber of Commerce in 1981. Denis now serves as the past president of the Saanich Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.

Wendy has her own law practice in Sidney and has been a member of the Chamber since 2008. She practices in various areas of law including Real Estate, Business Law and Wills and Estate Planning.
Wendy was called to the Province of British Columbia Bar in 1999 and the Province of Manitoba Bar in 2003. In addition to participating as a Director of the Chamber, she also volunteers as a committee member on the Saanich Peninsula Foundation Society, the Victoria Foundation, and in various capacities with the Canadian Bar Association.

Ian Hennigar – DirectorSenior Manager - Panorama Recreation Centre
Ian is the Administrator of the Peninsula Recreation Commission that provides a wide variety of recreational, arts and cultural programming through the Panorama Recreation Facility, Greenglade Community Centre, Central Saanich Cultural Centre and the North Saanich Middle School plus 12 other smaller facilities on the peninsula. The Commission will provide services to more than 600,000 visits in 2010.
Ian has been a Board member since 2008 and is a member of the Tourism Committee.

Ryan Leinweber – DirectorPrincipal – Honeycomb Webworks
Ryan operates Honeycomb Webworks; a friendly web design firm helping people use the Internet to achieve success in marketing, sales and advertising.
Ryan became a certified Internet professional in 2001. He holds an Associate Certificate from BCIT and has twice been certified by Microsoft to design and develop web applications.

Councillor (Central Saanich) – Susan Mason
Mayor (North Saanich) – Alice Finall
Alice is a long term resident of North Saanich and has been involved in the community in a volunteer capacity for many years. She is married to Derek and has three adult children. She recently retired from her law practice in Sidney where she worked for over twenty-six years. Alice was a Councillor in North Saanich from 1993-1999. She has most recently been the chair of the North Saanich Agricultural Advisory Commission. She has also been a member of the Environmental Advisory Commission and liaison to the Tree and Hedgerow Committee and Agricultural Task Force. She is a past elected member for Victoria of the BC Provincial Council, Canadian Bar Association.
Alice was a founding member of the North Saanich Food for the Future Society and co-organizer of the first North Saanich Farm Market. She was a founding member and Chair of the Society for Governance Advocacy in North Saanich. Alice was a member of the North Saanich Community Advisory Committee, which developed community vision for the 2007 Official Community Plan. She was director and chair of the Peninsula Streams Society and a founding member of the Friends of Dominion Brook Park Society. She also incorporated and was a founding member of the Canadian Association for Williams Syndrome.
Councillor (Sidney) – Kenny Podmore
Kenny was brought up and raised in England but became a Landed Immigrant in Canada in 2000 and proudly received his Canadian Citizenship in 2004. It gives him immense pleasure to call Sidney his home. His first term as a Councillor for the Town Of Sidney commenced in 2008 where he also holds the position as the Official Town Crier.
Councillors are required to serve on various committees/boards as Liaisons and Kenny considers himself very fortunate to be appointed to the board of The Peninsula Chamber Of Commerce.
