Viking Air’s Global Operators Forum Welcomes Over 400 Delegates to Sidney
The Saanich Peninsula Chamber of Commerce offers a sincere thank-you to local business Viking Air for hosting their Global Operators Forum here in Sidney. Over 400 attendees are in town this week taking in the private event, which means they will be exploring Sidney’s serene beauty, taking in the friendly customer service of local retailers, and the enjoying the quality cuisine of the town’s many quality restaurants.
The region’s hotels will also benefit from the “shoulder season” visitors since the fast-paced tourist season is only just starting to pick up.
“Viking Air continues to be a remarkable local success story,” says Chamber Executive Doug Taylor, “The fact is that a company like this could really locate anywhere in the world. We think that it’s imperative that the community—and the Peninsula in general—make continual efforts to become more and more business friendly, so that more success stories like Viking Air can result in the future, creating local impact like this three-day forum is sure to have.”
Local businesses like Viking Air, while they certainly pay local taxes, they also employ local people, who in turn buy houses, pay taxes, and make purchases that support their families. An event like this is a great excuse to remind ourselves of the positive attributes of our community that would not exist without local business success—things like local hospitals, beautifully maintained parks and recreation facilities, and other essential community assets.
The Viking Air Operator’s Forum takes place from April 17th-19th at the Mary Winspear Centre.
