In the spirit of the Sidney Breakfast Club’s 25th Anniversary, a volunteer group has been struck to resurrect “EduTech”, a non-profit event promoting and advancing career and awareness linkages between the Peninsula Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Sectors, secondary students and local community members.
Connecting Saanich Peninsula employers with potential employees, and those involved in the education system with career planning, has been a common theme of conversation. EduTech plans to bridge those gaps by providing an annual opportunity for these groups to interact.
This year’s EduTech event is October 27 & 28, in Sidney. We have space for 50 vendors, invited students and teachers from 25 schools across the region, and engaged elected officials, and their representatives, from the local, provincial and federal levels to attend.
Goals of the Event
Participating in EduTech 2017 will enable your company to;
- Connect with School Students – present opportunities to work in a productive career locally and to inspire students to consider post-secondary education in applied academic courses;
- Connect with the Community – raise the awareness of the contribution of local advanced technology and manufacturing firms in the community with the public as well as educational organizations, elected officials and government bodies.
- Connect with other Companies – find out what your advanced technology and manufacturing neighbours are doing and forge future links.
Value to the Vendors
Value Proposition for Vendors of EduTech 2017
To support our primary goal of connecting secondary students with your company, we have been developing a strategy with principals and educators from School District 63. The students will be tasked with completing a questionnaire while touring Edu-Tech 2017, so we ensure the students are truly learning and interacting with your representative at the event on Friday October 27.
Our strategy to engage the general members of the community relies on telling the stories of our sponsoring companies to showcase the diverse and interesting range of industry we are proud of on the Saanich Peninsula, and to encourage them to come to Edu-Tech 2017 to learn more.
We realize it’s important for you to have an opportunity to connect with fellow industry members, government organizations and members of the education system. We are planning an informal social gathering immediately after the event on Friday afternoon to provide that networking opportunity.
Our digital marketing plan consists of customizing content for the 4 major social media platforms; Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram. Unique pages and hashtags have been established for promoting Edu-Tech before, during and after the event. We will also be reaching out to established groups who are active on social media to share our content and promote our event.
There are 3 carefully selected major traditional media sponsors we will be approaching for in-kind sponsorship to share our content and promote the event. There will also be a media booth, where media sources will be invited to interview attendees and vendors.
We appreciate the consideration you are giving to attending EduTech 2017, as we realize that your time and resources are limited. It is our intention to create a valuable engagement opportunity for all who participate in EduTech 2017 from the vendors, the students and the other attendees.
